Mrs. Bernice Jones went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, May 28, 2022.

Public Viewing: 11am to 6pm Friday, June 10, 2022

Visitation: 6-7 p.m. , Friday, June 10, 2022.

Celebration of Life: 11 a.m., Saturday, June 11, at Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church, 919 Dutton Ave., Waco, Texas, 76706. Burial will follow at Doris Miller Cemetery.

She was born in Waco, Texas to the parents of Fred and Kathleen Brown April 10, 1936. She joined Ebenezer Baptist Church at an early age, where she served on the Junior and Senior Usher Boards, and Culinary Committee until her health began to fail.

She attended A. J. Moore High School. She worked at Baylor University in Food Service for over 50 years in Management and Supervisory positions.

Bernice was a role model and mentor to her children, as well as the students that she encountered daily during her time at Baylor. She also took time to encourage and support young single and married mothers that she supervised.  She enjoyed sewing and would sew dresses for those young mothers as gifts of love. She always took time to listen and would provide an encouraging word if requested.

Bernice was a private and quiet person. She respected people’s privacy and would not offer opinions or instructions unless asked.  Although she had a quiet manner, she was a strong woman who was a constant strength in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bernice reluctantly retired from Baylor due to health reasons. However, she retained a  sharp-mind, strong spiritual relationship with God, and wisdom that she continued to share with her family until the last weeks of her life.

Bernice is preceded in death by her parents, Fred Brown Sr. and Kathleen Brown, two brothers, Fred Brown Jr., and Isaac Brown, one son, David Roberts, and husbands Archie Roberts Sr., Algie Thomas Quinton, and Walter Jones.

Bernice leaves to cherish her life, three daughters, Carolyn Brown Barksdale (Ralph) San Antonio, Texas, Sandra Roberts Jenkins (Leon) Houston, Texas, Audrey Roberts Coleman (Samuel) Killeen, Texas; two sons, Archie Roberts, Jr. (Pamela) Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Thomas Earl Quinton (Wanda) Waco, Texas; stepdaughter, Brenda Warner, Dallas, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and one niece.
