William “Bill” Wayne Black, 88, of China Spring, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2022.
Graveside service: 10AM Monday, August 1 at China Spring Cemetery. No Visitation is planned.
Bill was born September 14, 1933, in Roby, Texas. He graduated from Jacksboro High School in 1952 and Arlington State College in 1954. Bill served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956, before attending the Art Institute of Chicago. Bill fell in love with Barbara Gayle Burdick, and they were married at the First Baptist Church in Loving, Texas on June 27, 1959. Bill and Barbara raised their children, Belinda and Brad, in Port Neches, Texas. Bill worked at the Texas-US Chemical facility in Port Neches from 1957 to 1995, and enjoyed spending his free time with his family, his art, and his church. A very talented artist, he served on the board of directors for the Texas Artist Museum Society. Bill was also a devoted man of God, and was ordained as a Deacon of the Central Baptist Church in Port Neches, Texas. After moving to China Spring, he attended Grace Baptist Church and was a president of the China Spring Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William James and Almarine Parsons Black.
Bill is survived by his wife, Barbara Gayle Black; children, Belinda Clift and husband Mark of Oklahoma City, and Brad Black and wife Judy of China Spring; grandchildren, Justin Clift of Moore, Oklahoma, Kevin Clift and wife Kaitlyn of Oklahoma City, Cannon Black of Austin, Texas, and Colton Black of China Spring; sisters, Shirley Johnson of Seymour, Texas, Lorraine Williams of Burleson, Texas, and Beverly Shoun and husband James of Jacksboro, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Waco AMR, 6800 Woodway Drive, Woodway, TX 76712 or the China Spring Volunteer Fire Department, 165 Illinois Avenue, China Spring, TX, 76633 to show appreciation for their lift-assist services. The family would also like to extend their thanks to Advent Hospice House for their care over the years.
