James Edward Brandon transitioned from this life to his eternal rest on October 23, 2024 following a lengthy illness.

VISITATION: 6PM to 8PM Thursday, October 31st at Lake Shore Funeral Home, Waco
GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 1:30 PM Friday, November 1st at Doris Miller Memorial Park, Waco

James was born to T. Vernon and Idissie Gowan Brandon on April 11, 1957 in Waco, Texas. He accepted Christ at an early age at the Church of the Living God, PGT and was baptized by Elder F.A. Robinson. James had an ear for music. Later, he learned to play the piano and organ by ear. He then took piano lessons and played for various churches in the Waco area.

James graduated from LaVega High School. After high school, he enlisted in the Air Force, continuing the family history of service to his country.

Once James was discharged from the Air Force, he relocated to the Dallas area. In Dallas he was a member of a gospel group which traveled all over the south. He was an entrepreneur in the area of fashion and travel.

James was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Larry George Thornton.

Survivors include his sister, Linda Wiley Davis (Elmer); niece, Natasha Talbert (David); sister-in-law, Jaydynn Thornton; great nephews, Davion Talbert (Natalie), Trestean Talbert (Rebecca) and Taylor Talbert (Sharkevia); great niece, Adrian Walker; and devoted cousins, Elaine Thomas and Judith Hatter.
