Melba Kay Eubank Carr, 58, of Waco passed away at her home on January 10, 2015, after a battle with cancer. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday January 24, 2015, at Speegleville Baptist Church in Speegleville, Texas, with Pastor Dr. Joe Bailey officiating.
Mrs. Carr was born on September 29, 1956, in Bryan, Texas, to Fred and Katie McCleney Eubank. She was a member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. She attended schools in Bryan and later moved to Bellmead, Texas, where she attended LaVega High School. She met John “on a rainy Sunday, but never expected to see each other again”. John later asked her to marry him while dancing at the Green Valley Ranch.
Melba married John Edward Carr on October 26, 1974, in Waco. Together they fulfilled their passion of caring for others. They were members of the Moonlighters CB Club. Both earned their Emergency Care Attendant certification and worked on the ambulance together. She was always involved in the Women’s Auxiliary in the many fire stations that John was a part of. She loved dancing and met many of their lifelong friends at the local dance hall. She was active in her children’s activities. She was team mom and on the Board of Directors at LaVega Little League where she enjoyed the many years of baseball and the friendships that were made along the way. Mom was a loving wife, daughter, sister, mother, aunt, friend, and MiMi to all.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, John Carr; son, James David Carr and wife, Jennifer of Corpus Christi; daughter, Sarah Kay Carr of Waco; two sisters, Lou Ann Eubank and Janice Eubank Matcek both of Bryan and brother Randall Eubank of Kurten; grandchildren, Makayla, Andrew, Alyssa, T’Kiyah, Torie and Grayson; nieces, Christine Busby, Mandi Martin, Misti Martin, Victoria Wagner, Ashley Eubank; nephews Aubrey Eubank, Donald Gilbert, Justin Gilbert; and several great nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to her daughter, Sarah; friend, Marvin Berry, and Bluebonnet Hospice for their care of Melba during her illness.
