James “Jamie” Brigman, 62, of Woodway passed away on Tuesday, September 19, after a sixteen-month battle with cancer.
Memorial MassSaturday September 23, at 10:00AM at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church. Floral arrangements may be delivered to St. Jerome’s on Saturday morning.
Jamie was born in Marion, Kansas, on March 7, 1955. He graduated from Lebanon High School in Missouri in 1973. Jamie met his wife, Kathy, in 1981 when Kathy, who was dating a friend of Jamie’s, set Jamie up with one of her friends. After one date, Kathy’s friend proclaimed that Jamie was perfect for Kathy. They married May 1, 1981. Eventually the pair settled in the Crawford area where they raised their two children, Kris and Brandi. Jamie loved to take his children kneeboarding and fishing. (Don’t worry, no fish were harmed… or caught!) Jamie not only taught his children to be responsible, honest, and trustworthy, but he also modeled it daily through his own actions. At the time of his passing, Jamie was employed by L-3 Technologies as an NC Programmer 3. Previously, Jamie had worked at Lorena Machine as a machinist.
After Brandi graduated from college in 2004, Jamie achieved his life-long dream of owning a Harley. Jamie shared his passion for motorcycle riding with Kathy, and together, they taught Rider’s Edge Motorcycle Safety for over 7 years. When Jamie wasn’t working or riding his motorcycles, he could be found tinkering in his shop or doing yard work. Even into the advanced part of his illness, Jamie was always moving and always up for an adventure – the more thrilling, the better.
Jamie is survived by wife, Kathy: son, Kris Brigman and his wife Noelle; daughter, Brandi Phythian and her husband David; brother, Greg and his wife Toko; grandchildren, Zoe, Mason, Karsten, Ryker, Kai, Bree, Aspen, and Cora, nephew Darren, and many other family members. Jamie was preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul and Hazel Riggs, and father, James A. Brigman.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Baylor Scott & White Central Texas Foundation.
Jamie’s family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, and aides at The McClinton Cancer Center and at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest for their excellent care and kind treatment of both Jamie and Kathy.

Though I never had the privilege of meeting Jamie I have been blessed with knowing Kris while we worked (and played) together at Comanche Peak. I wish to express my sincere condolences to the Brigman family and especially to my friend Kris. Our grief is never easy but it is part of our healing process. God Bless and I will pray the Rosary for Jamie’s.
I really appreciate your kind words and prayers.
Thank you,
Kathy Brigman
