Sherri June Evans, Jr. was born in Norfolk, Virginia to Sherri and Joseph Evans. She grew up in Oklahoma City and attended a small Christian school. During her senior year, in her free period she attended Metro Tech and received a certificate in Graphics Design. She played basketball and graduated in 2004 as salutatorian of her class. Sherri then went on to the University of Central Oklahoma to pursue her lifelong desire to be a funeral director and also began working at a local funeral home as an apprentice. She graduated in 2009 receiving her Bachelors of Science majoring in Funeral Services with a minor in Creative Writing.
Sherri had a longtime wish to move to Texas and did so in 2010 where she worked in Dallas for a time at an embalming service. In 2012, she moved to Waco to work as a Funeral Director and Embalmer at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors. There she received many honors there including the Circle of Excellence award that only 25 people in a corporate company of 8000+ received. While there she also became a Certified Celebrant, Preneed Insurance Agent and Funeral Home Manager. After nearly 6 years there, she was blessed with a new opportunity with Lake Shore Funeral Home in March of 2018.
Sherri enjoys many things but most of all spending time with her loved ones including her beloved fur babies, Mimi, Meko and Woo Woo. Outside of that she loves playing video games, watching movies, forged and fire, playing on adult basketball and flag football leagues, and her different subscriptions on YouTube. Sherri also tinkers with building things, refinishing old furniture and painting. The past 2 years Sherri has picked up the hobby of polymer clay and sometimes sells her creations under the moniker “claytimejester”.
Sherri has always wanted to be a funeral director and embalmer and is grateful to be living her dream everyday through serving the Waco area community.
