Terry was born and raised in Waco to Cecil Holt and Melba Holt Brown. Terry started his 33 year career with Texas Department of Transportation in 1967. He spent his first 20 years in the Center Stripe Department where he worked in 8 Central Texas counties. He spent his last 13+ years in the Sign Shop before retiring in 2000. Following his retirement, Terry worked part time as a “supervisor” at Shronk Automotive in China Spring.
Terry was a devoted family man. He and Jerry celebrated 53 years of marriage this February. Terry’s passion was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved to attend their sporting events and he rarely if ever missed a game. Terry enjoyed fishing, camping, participating in Trail Rides and rodeoing. He was the president of the China Spring Rodeo Association in the late 70’s and early 80’s. Terry never met a stranger and he loved talking to people and telling stories. He was beloved by all who came into contact with him.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents; a nephew; and a great-grandson.
Terry is survived by his wife, Jerry; his children, Tracy Rushing of China Spring and husband, Robby, T.P. Holt of China Spring and wife, Melissa, Jennifer Kessler of Leander and husband, Pete; his brother, Cecil Holt of Huntsville and wife, Jackie; and his sister, Susan Novak of Kyle and husband, John. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Bret Weaver, Sara Griffith, Niki Campbell, Cody and Lauren Holt, Clay Holt, Karly Holt, Colton Kessler, Connor Kessler, Katelyn Richter and Bradley Mitchell; numerous great-grandchildren; and extended family members.
The family would like to thank staff at Bluebonnet Health Services Hospice. Their care allowed Terry comfort in his last days.
