Jana was born to Charles E. and Margaret Kocourek in 1949. She graduated from Texas City High School and married Larry Lee Teakell in 1968.
Jana was a proud and supportive military wife and mother. Jana poured all of her love into her marriage and raising her three boys Scott, Christopher, and Kelly. She loved her family fiercely and always made any necessary sacrifices so her children and grandchildren could have anything they ever needed. Jana was heavily involved in the PTA to help develop and sustain a positive learning environment in her children’s schools, as well as with the Blue Star Mothers where she helped provide love and support to other military families. Jana touched many lives not only through her volunteer work, but through her sincere love for fun (especially dancing), family, and friends.
Jana Teakell was preceded in death by her parents and son, Christopher Shawn Teakell.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Lee Teakell; sons, Larry Scott and Kelly Ryan Teakell; sister, Charlotte Galloway; brother, John Kocourek; grandchildren, Serena Rigby, Christopher Teakell, Dagney Teakell, Izabella Teakell, Elliott Teakell, Virginia Teakell, and Stuart Martin; and great-grandchildren, Elowyn Rigby, Jesse James Teakell, Zane Teakell, and Saige Martin. She loved her grandchildren like the world.
The family would like to acknowledge the staff at The Brazos of Waco and Pauline, for all of their loving care.

Larry and Family
My Prayers and condolences to you and family.
I am very touched by the passing of Jana. I know that she will be with her loved ones in a lovely place now.
May the Lord be with you and keep his blessings upon you at this difficult time.
You will be greatly missed, your beautiful smile and bubbly personality! I have always felt privileged to call you my friend. My heart goes out to those you left behind!
I learned to know Jana when she volunteered in the library at Tennyson Junior High School. She was pleasant and encouraging to students and staff with whom she interacted. She realized the value of a good education and shared that belief with her sons. I know she must have enjoyed the grandchildren who joined the family circle. I was touched by all the smiles I saw in the video. Scott and Kelly — You were blessed to have such a Christian, loving mother.
Miss Kruse
I always remember the love and caring that Mrs. Teakell showed our children and staff when she was a volunteer at Provident Heights Elem. She also was such a joy to talk with when my husband, Jeff, and I would run into her after hours at the store and other places. May her many family members and friends find comfort during this difficult time.
Larry and family, I was very sorry to hear of Jana’s passing. We all know she is out of pain and in a much better place.
