Dempsy Burleson, 66, of Coolidge, TX, went home to be with the Lord on February 12, 2020. He was born on May 17, 1953 in Blytheville, Arkansas to Dempsy Garfield Burleson and Dorothy Jean Burleson.
He was a graduate of Union University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Dempsy was a wonderful husband, loving father and faithful employee wherever he worked. Most of all, he was an anointed, Spirit-filled man of God. He was ordained by Bro. Earl Anderson. For a year, he led a Bible study for the men at the House Where Jesus Shines. For 5 years, Dempsy preached every week at the Limestone County Jail. He then went on to work there full-time for 8 years. Many of the young men who came through that jail were touched, delivered and transformed under his ministry. He was affectionately known there as “Mr. B.”
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 41 years, Teresa Kay Burleson; his son, Samuel Jedidiah Burleson; his daughter, Gloria Grace Burleson; Steven H. Watkins Jr., and their children, Lucas Angel Watkins, and Katy Jean Watkins. He also leaves behind a sister, Bethany Stelly and her husband, Aubrey Stelly, as well as a brother, Kirby Noel Burleson of Bacliff.
Memorial Service: 10:30AM Friday, February 21 at Community Christian Fellowship, 1786 W. Hwy. 84 in Mexia, TX.
