Jean Latrell (Nation) Carpenter, of Hubbard, passed away peacefully May 27, 2021, at Providence Hospice Place at the age of 83.
Service Information: Private family services will be held.
She was born the third of four children in Statesboro, GA, in 1938 to Alva Terrell Nation and Sadie Lucille Mills Nation.

She also spent many hours working concessions for the Axtell High School Booster Club during football and basketball seasons, earning the nickname, “Ms. Jean,” by many who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; brother, Paul Nation; and sister-in-law, Betty, of Jesup, GA; sisters, Dale Boggs and brother-in-law, Dexter, of Lavonia, GA, and Ann Tolar and brother-in-law, Tom, of Meldrim, GA and husband, Bill of Elm Mott.
Jean is survived by her daughters, Tammy Ballew and husband, Ty, of Lorena, Paula Griggs and husband, Harris, of Mt. Calm, and Catherine Grassette and husband, Greg, of Ocklawaha, FL; sons, Larry Carpenter and partner, Jim, of Woodway and Chet Allen and wife, Judy, of Wellford, SC. She has multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews that she loved immensely.
The family would like to express a special “thank you” to the Hubbard First Responders and Care Flight team, neighbor, Sherry Elsik, and the nurses and care team at Providence Hospice Place.
