Mildred May Spinks went to be with the good Lord on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at Brookdale Lake Brazos in Waco.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond McGinnis and Louise Crenshaw; her brother, Raymond McGinnis; her sister, Betty Lou; her son, Claude Edward Billions; and by her husband, Ron Spinks.
She is survived by her children, Paul Manning, Sandra Nichols and her husband Ray and daughter, Teresa White; her grandchildren, Charlotte Derouen (Craig), Adam Manning, Justin DeCoster, Haley Gardner (Ben), and Ashley Steele (Paul); seven great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Max, Alice, Rylie, Kennedy, Kaylee and Easton.
Mildred was born May 31, 1930 in LaPorte In her early years , Mildred lived in Memphis. In her later years, she also lived in Florida and Texas, Mildred pursued a career in real estate as a broker and had her own real estate company in Houston, Texas. She married the love of her life, Ron Spinks in 1986 They lived in Livingston, Texas, Waco, Texas and Memphis, Tennessee. After they retired, they spent a lot of time making arts and crafts. They enjoyed travelling around to various arts and crafts shows selling their crafts. They also loved to play bingo.
For the past 6 years, she has lived at Brookdale communities in Kerrville and most recently, Brookdale Lake Brazos in Waco. Mildred was a member of First United Methodist Church in Kerrville, Texas. Mildred was loved by all that took care of her. She was spunky and people were drawn to her tell it like it is character.
Mildred was a classy, beautiful lady who took great pride in always having her hair fixed. Mildred loved her family, Jimmy Swaggert gospel music and the Lord. She was always happy when her great grandchildren, Rylie and Kennedy would come to visit her.
The family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Guadalupe River Plaza in Kerrville, the staff at Brookdale Lake Brazos in Waco, the wonderful staff of Texas Home Health Hospice who provided such loving care for her and her long time, Nurse Practitioner, Lorrie Smith of Boyd House Calls.
Graveside Service will be 11:00 am. August 13, 2021 at West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Memphis, Tennessee
