Richard Wade Mason, 57, of Waco passed away January 17, 2022 with his mother by his side. He was born December 15, 1964.
Visitation: 4 to 6p.m. Sunday, January 23rd at Lake Shore Funeral Home.
Funeral Services: 11a.m. Monday, January 24th also at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Roger Huff officiating. Burial will follow at Moore Cemetery in Chalk Bluff.
Wade was a 1983 graduate of Rosebud-Lott High School and remained in the Waco area as a huge supporter of the cougars. He drove semi-trucks for many years and later worked for the City of Waco. He was very passionate about anything NASCAR and could be seen flagging many races for the Heart O’ Texas Speedway in Waco on Friday nights. Wade was an avid competitive bowler and softball player as well as a softball officiant. He was very involved with local western gun clubs like the Waco Gun Fighters performing shows at the Texas Safari in years past and more recently with the Wild West Regulators. He made an unmistakable impression when dressed in the old west style duster, cowboy hat, and gun at his side. Additionally, Wade loved dressing up for Halloween and helping at a local haunted house for fundraising events. Overall, Wade was a quiet guy for the most part, but showed the many sides to his personality within his hobbies.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother Iva Lucille Burns and grandfather Glenn Burns. He is survived by his mother Kay Eschenburg and step-father Larry Eschenburg of Aquilla, his sister Melissa Coleman of Gholson, his brother Justin Chapman of Waco, his sister Lacey Chapman of Ross, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and a host of many longtime friends.
Wade took special pride in his nephew, and namesake, Flynn Wade Stringer. Flynn brought him smiles on many days in his last few years of his life.
Pallbearers will be members of the Wild West Regulators: George Patrick Foley, Boyd Parker, and Billy Watkins, along with Justin Chapman his brother.

I am sorry to hear of the passing of Wade. I worked with him at the City of Waco. Kind hearted soul he was. Lifting you all up in my thoughts and prayers.
Wade was my nephew and I spent a lot of time in my teen years babysitting him. He was a beautiful baby and a gentle soul. Parkinson’s took it’s hold on him very young in life which was a travesty. He fought a good fight and he’s in a better place now I feel sure. He will be remembered.
