Luis R. Piña, 67, of Rosenthal, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2022.
Mass of Christian Burial: Noon Wednesday, September 7 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Visitation: 6 to 8PM, with the Holy Rosary being recited at 7PM, Tuesday, September 6 at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel.
Luis was born August 27, 1955 in Zacatecas, Mexico. He married Marcelina Martinez. They immigrated their family to Texas in 1980. He worked for Young Brothers Construction Company for many years as a painter. He and Marcelina (Mama Chela and Papa Rey) owned and operated the neighborhood store in Rosenthal (Piña’s County Store). He was a faithful member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waco.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Piña and Amelia Martínez; children, Jaime, Oscar, and Adrian; and grandchild, Jamie Roberto.
Survivors include wife of 49 years, Marcelina (Martinez) Piña; children, Gustavo Piña (Sylvia), Rigoberto Piña (Vanessa), Marisa Piña (J. Roberto Campuzano Arellano), and Maria Veronica Piña (Eduardo Garcia); grandchildren, Sylvia Lorena, Yulissa, Rocio, Lucero, Rey Gustavo, Rigoberto Jr., Raquel, Luis Rey, Antonio Jesus, Adrian, Carlos, Cody, Malia’ Lupita, Yadaly, Yamilex, Yarizma, and Eduardo (Lalito); great grandchild, Amaya; sisters, Ester, Ofelia, Imelda, and Laura; brothers, Roberto, Arnulfo, Alfredo, David, Jose, Jorge, and Javier; as well as numerous other relatives.

I worked out in Rosenthal for a good amount of time as a young adult, i would always stop in the morning and afternoon and get me a drink and snack, this man was always smiling and was always eager to talk to me about his days, he will be sorely missed by everyone who ever met him.
