Jerry Scarborough, 85, passed away peacefully at home in Waco on Saturday, September 21, 2024.

Jerry was born in Shreveport into a loving but modest family. He grew up in Austin, was educated at UT Austin and medical school in Dallas. He earned a Master’s in Psychology and taught at MCC. He was also a successful businessman. He helped countless people, including disabled veterans and the homeless. Jerry enjoyed cars, UT football, playing and listening to music, especially guitar and piano, and taking day trips with his wife. He loved to be busy and active. Jerry’s greatest joy was spending time with his loved ones; he worked tirelessly to take care of his family.

Jerry leaves behind his loving wife and constant companion of 24 years, Dona, and his children Greg, Joel, Kristie, Justin, Edward, Gary and David and their families, and many family and friends old and new.

Jerry loved God and was thankful for the many blessings in his life. He will be desperately missed.

Burial will be in the family plot in Nolanville, at a later date.

  5. I am so very sorry to hear about Jerry’s passing. He was my step-dad a long, long time ago. When I think of him, I think of music. He was incredibly talented. I remember his bedroom being full of musical instruments, and I remember band practices and watching the band play down at Waterworks. MCC also reminds me of him. I remember taking one of his classes, and I remember him keeping the bicycles we got for Christmas in his faculty office.
Sending my condolences to Dona and her sons, Greg, Joel and Kristie.

  10. Jerry was my neighbor in Hewitt in 1970 on Sun Valley (Street I named when I had the Waco paper route there. Really a nice guy! At MCC in 1973 he was my psychology instructor one semester. Yes, I made an A in his class but I worked for it. Sad that he is gone. Prayers for the family and friends. 🙏✝️🙏

We are deeply sadden by the passing of our good friend, Jerry. We were totally shocked to hear of his death, for it was less than ten days ago that he and I were having a normal conversation as I worked at his house.
Jerry was a good, gentle man and may he rest in peace, for it was a big part of his life to provide a place for veterans to have a place to rest and enjoy peace.
We will really be missing our friend of over 30 years .
    Rest in peace Jerry ❤️
