Joe Ray Torres, 82, of Waco, entered the presence of his Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 19, 2024.

Visitation: Friday, October 25, at 5-8 PM at Lake Shore Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: Saturday, October 26, at 10 AM at Waco Memorial Cemetery.

Joe was born January 6, 1942 in Waco to Brigido and Eloisa Torres. He married the love of his life, Gloria Gonzalez, on July 14, 1962.  Joe and Gloria were married for 60 years and were blessed with two daughters, two sons-in-law, seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one great-great grandson, and many wonderful memories together.  He was a longtime member of Primera Iglesia Bautista of Waco where he served as a Deacon and was involved in numerous church activities throughout the years.  Joe was an excellent employee and a hard worker, skilled at many jobs over the years, ultimately retiring from Waco Center for Youth after 20+ years of service.  He enjoyed watching baseball, football, old Westerns, visiting with family and friends, listening to 50s music and spending time with his family!

Joe is survived by his daughter, Deborah Perez and husband, Robert; daughter, Veronica Burke and husband, Dallas; grandchildren, Jennifer Rodwell, Christopher Torres and wife, Melissa, Jessica Morales, Madison Burke, Emily Burke, Daniel Perez and Nate Perez; great grandchildren, Mikayla Rodwell, Kharma Rodwell and Jordan Torres; great-great grandson Anikio Rodwell; brothers, Edward Torres (Janet), Babe Torres (Elizabeth), and Tony Torres (Norma); sisters-in-law, Dolores Lemke and Yolanda Gonzales, brothers-in-law, Ralph Gonzalez and Richard Gonzalez (Sharon); and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Joe was a kind, funny, loving, intelligent, strong and God-fearing man who was a devoted husband and father.  He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed. The family would like to thank his church family for their love, support and prayers; his beloved La Vega High School classmates for their unwavering love and friendship; Baylor Scott and White staff; and caregivers, Chris, Rachel, Jennifer and Coco of AccentCare of Waco for their dedicated and gentle care.
