Merlene Thompson, 75, of Waco, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2010 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be 10AM Monday, April 5th at Beverly Hills Baptist Church with Rev. Carroll Hambrick officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 to 8PM Saturday, April 3rd at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco. Merlene was born January 18, 1935 in Hemlock, WV to Harry and Sadis (Wolfe) Simmons. She married Bobby G. (Bob) Thompson on April 25, 1953 in Waco. Merlene and Bob were in the appliance business since 1959 in Waco, Cleburne and Temple.
She was preceded in death by her husband, and son, Jerry Thompson.
Survivors include daughters, Debbie Moore of Tyler and Karla Kritztein of South Beloit, IL.; two special nephews, Oliver McNeil and Don Lowrey, both of Waco; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers; and seven sisters.
