Carolynn Louise Springer Uecker

In Memorial

Carolynn Louise Springer Uecker, age 65, passed away on March 16, 2024, peacefully in her sleep.

Carolynn was born in Waco, TX on February 25, 1959 to Herbert and Bettye Springer. Born into a proud military family, Carolynn and 2 of her sisters lived in England and Greece.

When her father was sent to serve in Vietnam his family returned to Waco. The family was then sent to the state of Washington and then to Goose Creek, South Carolina; where Carolynn attended Junior High.

When her father retired from the military, the family moved to China Spring, TX to be close to her mother’s family. Carolynn attended China Spring High School class of 1976.

She was one of the first employees for Dairy Queen on 19th Street in Waco when it opened. She worked multiple jobs to put herself through radiology classes at McLennan Community College. She left college for a career with the U.S. Postal Service. Her last position was at the Waco Westview Post Office. She retired after 25 years with USPS.

Carolynn married three times and had two children. She embraced Catholicism during this time, deepening her faith at St. Louis Catholic Church in Waco, TX. Her spirit was kind, compassionate, light-hearted, and playful. She was free-spirited but loved her family fiercely and as a wife and mother, she mirrored her parents’ strength, wisdom, and caring nature. She was genuine and resilient and her ability to appreciate the comical in absurd situations was uniquely charming.

A romantic, she finally married the love of her life Bruce E. Uecker on October 15, 2002, in Fredericksburg, TX. They were married for 18 beautiful years and helped raise their granddaughter Lillian together at their home in Golinda, TX, before his passing in 2020.

Carolynn loved unconditionally with an immensely generous heart; she could keep and make space in her life always for all those who were special to her and for those who needed her. She had a deep appreciation for beauty and the natural world and would often drive, admiring the scenery of back country roads by day and gazing up at the moon and stars by night. A sensitive and maternal soul she had a natural gift with animals and young children and could usually be found with a beloved pet dog by her feet or great-grandchild on her lap.

Carolynn is survived by her daughter Lindsey Lyday; her grandchildren Lillian Lyday, Saya, William, and Mariam; her great-grandchildren Alexander, Olivia, and Aurora; her stepdaughter Marjorie Ann Mauck; her step-grandchildren Tristan, Gavin, Alyssa, Deven, Shelton, Jolene, and Arabella Grace; her siblings Carla Cockrell, Cindy Winn and her husband George, Cristy Mitchell and her husband Tim, and Duce Springer; her aunts Joyce Springer and Linda Strahan; 6 nieces, 3 nephews, 4 great-nieces, and 10 great-nephews.

She is preceded in death by her infant brother H.L., her parents, her husband Bruce Uecker, and her great-granddaughter Jade Lyday-Scott.

Carolynn’s life was a testament to love, strength, and an unwavering spirit that touched many hearts, and she will be deeply missed.
