May he ise in glory and rest in peace. May his memory be a blessing.

  4. “COACH”

Very fond memories of “Coach.” I found him to be very serious about “our education.” Coach was stern and he did not “pIay!” I think it was in 1962 (7th Grade) at the segregated Lockhart Carver High School History Class that I remember two incidents. One, we had to write a paper and his specific instruction was that it had to be written in the same color of ink. For some strange reason I had this green ink pen which ran out of ink as I was near completion; needless to say, I had to get a blue pen and begin all over again! Two, for whatever reason our entire class was negligent in a homework assignment, and he went row by row asking questions. If one person could at least correctly answer the row would be saved, if not that row would have to go up to his desk and get a “lick.” This went on for what seemed like an eternity! Not casting any aspersions on paddling for it was highly accepted and approved in our time. Moreover, it was expected and understood that it takes a Village to Raise a Child and I was certainly the better for it. Circa 1990 I saw him at a Carver Reunion, and he was taken aback by my comment. I said, totally in jest, “you used to beat me!”

Williams Family I extend my heartfelt condolences, and prayers for your comfort in this grievous time. The LORD is our strength, our rock on which we stand. To GOD be the Glory…

  6. Gary,
I was very saddened to hear of the death of your beloved brother Alex. I met him once in 2005 at a WISD graduation ceremony for students of A.J. Moore Academy. Once he realized that I was your high school classmate he spoke so very very proudly of you! He was one of your
strongest cheerleaders. May his life and his many accomplishments be a blessing to all of you!

Learned of Life while attending Corsicana High School.
As a student, I had the privilege of working in the office which consist of being in his presence a lot. One joy I had was at the start of each school day, Coach and I would sit at the Absence Admit Slip Table together, issuing out to students their pass back to their class that has been absent previous day(s).
