Arthur Turner Jr., 71, of San Francisco and formerly of Waco, passed away February 6, 2018 in San Francisco.

Wake: NO formal visitation or wake is planned. Mr. Turner will lie in state 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Friday, February 23, at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend, in Waco

Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 24, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 125 Turner Street, in Waco

Burial: Doris Miller Memorial Park at a later date

On September 7, 1946 Mr. Arthur Turner, Jr. was born to the late Arthur Turner, Sr. and Ruby Betty Scales Turner in Waco, Texas. He went home to be with the Lord, Jesus Christ on February 6, 2018 at 12:02 p.m. with his wife at his hospital bedside where he had been for 7 long weeks. During his battle with health issues, his wife played Sam Cooke and his favorite Motown hits, which he loved listening to.

Arthur attended A.J. Moore High School where he graduated with the class of 1964. He went on to attend St. Philips College in San Antonio, Texas. He took classes in Sociology until 1967 when he united in Holy matrimony to Patricia Holston-Turner. To this union three sons were born and this relationship spanned 51 years.

He was baptized at an early age and became a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Waco, Texas in 1949.In 1967 Arthur was offered a job in San Francisco with a better opportunity and he and Patricia were on the next train there. Arthur held his position as a District Manager for 49 years for Metropolitan Parking until he retired in 2016.

Arthur was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to many. His love and zest for life touched everyone he knew. He was truly and inspiration to everyone with whom he came in contact. He played major role in keeping his family close. He was truly a beautiful person inside and out, and he will truly be missed. He had a passion for bowling, fishing, and he loved watching his TV.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Betty Scales Turner, father, Arthur Turner, Sr., maternal grandparents, John Wesley and Hattie Mae Scales, and paternal grandparents, Benjamin and Wrenda Turner, and a niece, Shannon Watkins.

Arthur is survived by his wife, Patricia Holston-Turner, sons: Steven Turner, Nikeith Turner, Arthur Turner III, grandchildren: Terrance Turner (Margaret), LaTreylia Turner, Treijanae Turner, Kendra Turner, Jaden Turner, GioVann Turner, great-grandchildren: Javiah Hunt, Ernest Hunt, Dontay Dixon, all of San Francisco, CA., siblings: Ruby Turner-Watkins (Joe) of Oakland, CA., Benjamin Turner (Sandra) of Tutwiler, MS., Martha (Dena) Turner (Andre) of Waco, TX, Michael Turner (Pricilla) of San Antonio, TX., Suzanne Ware-Barrett (Phillip) of Desoto, TX., a host of nieces, great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews. He also has a host of cousins in Florida and throughout parts of California.  He leaves to cherish his memory bythree special nieces, Kimberly Watkins-Mitchell (Emmanuel) of Waco, TX and JaQuayia Turner of San Marcus, TX, Valerie (Ducky) Martin, and a favorite uncle, Benjamin Turner (Jewell) of Jacksonville, FL. He was a special brother-in-law to the following, Andrea (Jackie) Thomas, Gwen Johnson, Calvin Holston, and George Watkins. Arthur was a dedicated uncle/father figure to nephews Troy Watkins, Albert Holston, Stephen Manago, and Kenneth Benton, as well as his niece, Traci Benton. Special devoted friends of many years are Percy Brinkley, Roby Jackson, JoAnne Snell-Johnson, and the A.J. Moore High School Class of 1964.
