On September 10, 1942, a beautiful baby girl was born in Houston, Texas to the late Hiram Hatter Sr. and Bertha Mae Jackson.  She was raised by her grandparents the late Cyrus Jackson (“Papa Yuk”) and Virginia Jackson (“Mama Fritzy”) in Satin, Texas and later by her stepfather, James Washington who married her mother, Bertha Mae.

Barbara attended Satin Elementary School in Satin, Texas and graduated from Downsville High School in 1962.  She migrated to San Francisco, California in 1962 and continued her education at San Francisco Community College. In 1963, she married her beloved high school sweetheart, Robert Lee Webster.  Her life was filled with joy as she embraced motherhood and loved and cherished the moments of her life with her two beautiful daughters.  Antoinette, the oldest was born in Trenton, New Jersey and Evette, the youngest was born in San Francisco, California.

Barbara’s early religious training was at Satin Methodist Church.  At an early age she migrated to Cedar Grove Baptist Church in the town of Satin, Texas. When she moved to San Francisco, she joined in fellowship and became a member of the Third Baptist Church of San Francisco, California for more than 40 years.  She returned to Texas and united in fellowship and became a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.

Barbara was employed with the prestigious St. Francis Hotel for 28 years in San Francisco, California as a Front Office Agent. Her vibrant personality and demeanor was perfectly suited to the hospitality industry as she touched many lives with her kindness and beautiful smile each day.  She loved to read everyday as she commuted on the train back and forth to work.

She began her 60+ year epic, loving relationship with Robert Lee Webster when they met in the neighboring small towns of Satin, Texas and Downsville, Texas as children, and she would remain married to him until she was called to the Lord on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at their home in Robinson, Texas.

Barbara leaves to celebrate her life: a dedicated caretaker and beloved husband, Robert Lee Webster; two daughters, Antoinette Webster of Santa Clara, California; Evette Webster Turner (Tony) a son-in-law of Katy, Texas; one brother, Hiram Hatter, Jr.; special friends in her life, Verta Mae Clay and Lisa Thomas; many sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. 10AM, Wednesday
