Bernice “Meme” Peacefully went to her Heavenly home with her family at her side on Thursday, August 18, 2022. Bernice was born to Ernst and Emma Zellmer on July 7, 1939 in Riesel, Texas. She was a lifelong resident of Riesel and attended Riesel ISD. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Riesel and she loved the ladies in her Sunday school class. She retired from the McLennan County Welfare Department in Waco.
Funeral Service: 10am Saturday, August 27 at Lake Shore Funeral Home State Room. Following the service, you can join the family at First Baptist Church of Riesel at 1pm for refreshments.
Bernice is preceded in death by her parents Ernst and Emma Zellmer, her brothers Ervin and Sonny Zellmer, her sister Mabel Sims, her ex husband and close friend Harold Stieg, and her ex son-in-law Tim Walker.
Meme’s memory will be kept alive by her granddaughter Trista Coronado, son Thomas Bledsoe, daughters Cindy Haigood and Robert Chollett, Michelle Stieg Coronado; grandchildren Christi Hoelscher and Brandon, Justin Bledsoe and Amanda, Nicole Fauver and Dwaine, Lindsey Alexander and Michael, Lacy Helona-Hetherington and Jimmie, Alissa Jellison and Colton, Jessica Coronado; great-grandchildren, Payton Holescher, Elijah and Porter Bledsoe, Caden Grady, Cheyann Dunn, Roper Griffith, Dalton Alexander, Lillian Helona-Hetherington, Kaislee, Penelope and Blayze Jellison, and Jaxton Miller.
The family would like to thank Providence Hospice, especially Heather and Crystal, for the exceptional care received.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the First Baptist Church of Riesel or Providence Hospice.
