Born in 1940, Bob was a true country boy, growing up on a farm in the small town of Riesel. We called him Grandaddy, and that’s how I’ll refer to him throughout this obituary. He graduated from Riesel High School in 1958, and soon after joined the Air Force, proudly serving his country for four years, with time spent in Arizona and England.

After his service, he pursued higher education at Oklahoma Christian University, Texas A&M University, and Sam Houston State University, ultimately graduating with a Bachelor of Arts and a master’s degree in history. His love for learning and dedication to education were evident throughout his life.

He also became a devoted preacher, spreading the word of God and dedicating much of his life to the Church of Christ. He shared his love and faith to all those around him. His kindness and generosity were boundless, always putting others before himself. Later, he ventured into the world of real estate, running his own business while continuing his preaching. Despite his professional commitments, his heart always remained on the farm, where he found joy spending time with his grandson, Caleb, chopping mesquite trees, dove hunting, and tending to his garden.

In addition to his many talents, Grandaddy was also a singer and songwriter who created many great songs that will be treasured. Some of these will be played at the service in his honor. He also wrote numerous books, with his most proud work being titled “Revelation Sevens & Salvation,” a book he spent much of his life writing and finally completed in 2013.

During his final years, he confronted the obstacle of severe dementia, accompanied faithfully by his loving granddaughter, Caitlyn. In a display of honor, she selflessly made sacrifices to ensure his care and comfort.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel and Henry; older brothers, Wesley and William (Bill); sister, Joyce; son, Jeff; and daughter, Allison. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, who he loved dearly, Ann Felkner; son, Max; grandson, Caleb; two granddaughters, Anna and Caitlyn; grandmother of his grandchildren, Janelle (Mawmaw); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Granddaddy was known for his humor and playful spirit. He often said he would always be a kid at heart. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
