Bobby Van Haliburton, 64, departed this life and went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 3, 2014, in Houston, Texas.

VISITATION: Come and Go from Noon to 5pm, Friday, August 8th at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend Dr, Waco.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 12 noon, Saturday, August 9th at Pleasant Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 1600 East League Street, Waco.

INTERMENT: Doris Miller Memorial Park

Bobby Van Haliburton was the youngest son born to Nathaniel Haliburton, Sr. and Catharine (Wigfall) Haliburton in Waco, Texas on November 12, 1949. He was raised in the Olive Heights area of Waco, and later was a member of the Carver Park area. Bobby attended Waco Schools, later graduating from Moore High School in 1968. He furthered his education by matriculating at Paul Quinn College and graduating in 1972 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. He later became a faculty member in the School of Social Work during the 70’s and 80’s. In the late 80’s, Bobby became a member of Pleasant Olive Missionary Baptist Church of Waco. Bobby would go on to earn a Masters Degree from the University of Houston, and began work on his Doctoral Degree, later becoming a faculty member at Prairie View A & M University.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Nathaniel Haliburton, Sr. and Catharine (Wigfall) Haliburton; and three siblings, Nathaniel Haliburton, Jr., Irene LaVerne Truitt Person, and Frances Alexander.

A life well lived will be remembered by his niece, Pam Alexander; nephews, Rodney Alexander, Arthur Alexander, and Steven Alexander, all of San Antonio, Texas; great-niece, Danae Alexander; great-nephews, Corey and Hordan Alexander; and his loving and devoted cousins, John G. Franklin, Mary D. Franklin, Aaron Franklin, Carolyn Daniels, Willie R. Wigfall, Kenny R. Wigfall, and Ann Massey.
