Brandon was born in Waco, and lived most of his life here. He graduated from Waco High School and attended The Art Institute of Austin shortly afterward working toward a career in audio engineering, production and design. His keen musical sense allowed him to flourish and create beautiful music, audio recordings, videos, and the like. He was self-taught in piano and guitar and had an ear for audio arrangements and recordings he produced for friends and others. Brandon was the funniest human on the planet. He had a knack for telling stories and jokes that left your sides hurting from laughter. His personality was bigger than life, and he was adored by everyone he came in contact with. He loved his family dearly, and his entire circle of friends were treasures to his heart. Brandon worked as a certified meat cutter for many years at HEB Grocery Stores located in Austin and Waco. His HEB family was very important to him, and he always talked about his time and friendships there. Brandon loved cooking, video games, music, and Snap, his beloved dog.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Dorothy Kessler of Waco; his grandfather, Aldon Phillips, Sr.; and his grandfather, Ernest C. Dreyer.

He leaves behind his parents, Mike and Ginny Dreyer; his dad, Aldon H. Phillips, Jr; brother, Jason McGaugh and wife, Laura and their daughter, Ava; brother, Adam McGaugh and wife Kristen and their children, Kirsten, Blake, Dylan and Shawn; sister, Destiney Spear and husband, Brett and their daughters Haley and Taylor; brother, Chris Dreyer and wife, Andrea and their children, Dean, Levi and Ashlynn; brothers, Blake and Zachary Phillips; sister, Kimberly Tidmore; and grandmother, Gayle Phillips; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

Of all the special gifts in life, however great or small, to have Brandon as our son, was the greatest gift of all. We will keep him in our hearts forever.

I’ve been thinking about the first time I met Brandon. It was on the bus for a field trip (possibly to the caverns ?) We were only 11 or 12 years old when he was at midway. Cd players were in and he just started talking to me I think we shared a seat. He was the first person to introduce me to system of a down. He even let me keep his burned CD so I could listen to it. He was always nice always funny and had the sweetest smile. I would run into him again when I was 17 and wish I would of seen him far more often then I did.

Yesterday system of a down was on my radio and it made me smile.

Much love to his friends and family . Grief is love and he was very loved.

  7. Brandon was amazing. He had so much love in his heart for his friends. He was fun. My best friends introduced me to Brandon in high school. He immediately became one of my closest friends. We all laughed until we cried with him. Hanging out with Brandon and laughing was the routine. Brandon will be greatly missed. The world just lost a a good caring person and it certainly lost some humor. I’m sending a big hug to anyone reading this. Love you Brandon.
