Brandy Christine Dominguez, 52, of Waco, passed away peacefully after a short but intense battle with cancer, on July 19, 2024 in Waco, TX.

Celebration of Brandy’s Life:   2pm Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend, Waco, TX with Pastor Mike Raymond officiating.

Brandy was born on April 20, 1972 in Waco, TX to John and Judy (Poe) Dominguez and was a 1990 graduate of China Spring High School.  Her love of life, and love of people, led her to nursing school where she earned her LVN degree.  She went into nursing already possessing the two most important skills of a nurse, compassion and caring.  She utilized those skills at Woodland Springs Nursing Home and Waco Center for Youth.  When she was not using those skills at work, she was using them at home.  If you found her inside, it was because she was cooking for friends or friends of her kids.  More often than not, you would find her outside tending to the yard and her plants.  If she was not outside at home, she was outside somewhere.  Camping locally whenever she could or making trips to her two favorite spots, the gulf coast of Texas or the mountains of Colorado.

She is preceded in death by her uncles, Randy Poe, Mike Poe and Paul Sullivan; aunt, Mary Alice Dominguez; cousin, Troy Poe; and both her paternal and maternal grandparents.

Brandy is survived by her partner, Jerry Vaughn; parents, John and Judy Dominguez; children, Charli Burch, Colton Scallion and fiancé Kyndle, Caleb Dominguez and wife Elizabeth; grandchildren, Peyton Burch, John Ethan and Avery Dominguez; sister, Teresa Vaughn and husband Robert; brother, J.B. Dominguez and wife Sandy; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and nephews; and her beloved dog Duke.  She will be missed by many other relatives and friends.

Brandy’s family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the nursing staff of 4 North at Hillcrest Hospital for the exceptional care you gave, especially RNs Angela, Jenn V. and Valerie and PCT Brenna.

Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online Guest Book at www.LakeShoreFuneralHome.com.

This saddens my heart but she was one of a kind! Always talking about her family and making everyone smile! She was that beacon of light that we always needed at WCY! Our kids loved her and she always thought about the direct care staff! She never seemed unhappy no matter how she felt and would pray with me! I know she is in heaven looking down upon us and share pics along with stories of her family! Hugs and Prayers for her family!

John and Judy – this is heartbreaking news. I can not tell how very sorry I am and how my heart goes out to you both on the loss of your beautiful daughter. It’s such a devastating loss that only God can give you the strength and words and comfort that I can not even find, as I have a daughter too.

As you both know, I’m a music person —so that’s primarily where I find comfort. So I offer these words from a song —
“Knowing what I know about Heaven
Believing that you’re all the way home
    Knowing that you’re somewhere better
Is all I need to let you go.”
—”Knowing What I Know About Heaven” by Sarah Darling

Prayers and my thoughts are with you and your family. Unfortunately I didn’t get to know her, but obviously while she blessed this Eart and her family, she was a blessing and ray of sunshine to every life she touched —and to her family. We’ve had to give up too many wonderful people in the Dominguez/Poe families, people we loved and still miss. There are many wonderful memories.

With Love from me, and on behalf of the Yankie family,
    Nancy Yankie Sidarous.

  13. Melinda Vaughan- Murphy

Brandy and I went to school together. I can envision her now, in the school hallway, us playing around as we rushed to our next class. I have found memories of her contagious smile and laugh that always brought a smile and laugh to anyone around her. She was a beautiful person. I am so grateful that even though Brandy and I never became super close, we did get to share our lives in both as children and as blossomed adults. I am forever grateful for our paths to have crossed in this lifetime. I was blessed to have been able to pray not only for but WITH Brandy and a couple of her family members while in the hospital and upon her newly informed and devastating diagnosis. I believe that is the most cherished and honored moment in my life with Brandy. May she rest in peace and dance with Jesus. GOD bless her and her family. She will always be remembered.
