Brenda was born February 13, 1949 to Joseph Duah Hebert and Claudia Bertrand Hebert in Abbeville, Lousiana. She graduated from Abbeville High School, Class of 1967.
Brenda began her career at Gremillion Furniture Store in 1968 until 1971. She began working at Abbeville General Hospital in 1971 and was there until 1984 when she and her daughter left Louisiana to live in West, Texas.
After moving to Texas she worked in Medical Records for both West Community Hospital and Providence Hospital; She served in the Cancer Registry for St. Paul Medical Center in Dallas and Trinity Mother Frances in Tyler over a 15 year period. Brenda moved to Waco in 1999 after learning she would be a grandmother. She began working for the Waco Police Department in 2000 until her retirement in 2016. She loved her co-workers and referred to most of them as her “baby boys”. She was truly a mother figure to them all.
Brenda will be remembered as a wonderful grandmother and mother; thoughtful, kind and caring to everyone she met. She was friendly and had a fun-loving personality. She worked hard all of her life and she had an unshakeable faith in her God.
In life, Brenda had many passions: in solitude she enjoyed books by Nora Roberts, computer games, various arts and crafts, including crocheting blankets for her loved ones, shopping, fishing and going to the movies. She clung tightly to her Louisiana roots with her love of cooking gumbo, eating crawfish, and dancing, especially to Cajun music in her living room.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Duah and Claudia Hebert and her brothers John Lodger; Dennis Hebert and Daniel Hebert.
Survivors include her daughter, Marcie Reed and her husband Dwayne Reed; beloved Granddaughter, Kathryn Reed; God children, Rob Roy and Randy Cessac; sisters, Lou Ella LeBlanc, Lois Cessac and Mary Lynn Hebert; nieces, Donna Stelly, Lynette Brinkerhoff, Denise Stublefield and Alicia Dugas; nephews, Paul Hebert, Randy Cessac, Dennis Cessac, Pete LeBlanc, Kevin Hebert, Tim Hebert and David Hebert; and many great nieces and nephews; best friends, JoLane Roy, Cissi Bares, Diana Sarver, Trish McDuff and Maxine Keller whom she loved deeply and referred to as her sisters.
Brenda would surely wish to thank the Baylor Scott & White Memorial Hospital Surgical ICU, Vascular, Respiratory, Kidney and Cardiac teams for their expertise and the high level of care they gave to her while she was there; her nurses, Jason, Debra, Kimmie, Cara, Emily, April, Sherri and Anna. Further, she would like to thank to Bluebonnet Services for their care and compassion after she came home. The work you do is so important. Also, thank you to her Class of 1967 for sending her a shirt from her 50th Class Reunion signed by every classmate since she couldn’t be there during her illness.
