Carol Ewing Vaughan, 85, of Waco, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco.
Cremation was arranged and provided by Lake Shore Funeral Home & Crematory
Carol was born February 1, 1936 in Texon, Texas to A.M. Ewing and Gertrude Hardy Ewing. She was a long time resident of Waco.
She graduated from Baylor University in 1965 with a B.A. in Education and in 1977, she received her Master’s Degree in Special Education. Carol was a teacher at West ISD, Waco ISD, Robinson ISD and Hallsburg ISD. She was also a charter teacher for the McLennan County Head Start Program based in Rosenthal, Texas.
Carol was a charter member of Central United Methodist Church of Waco where she served for many years as a board member, teacher, Woman’s Club leader and served as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She was a great friend, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and mentor to all of us. Carol will be greatly missed, but we are all grateful the she is home with her Lord and Savior and we know some day we will all be reunited and rejoice once more.
Carol was preceded in death by her mother and father; her eldest son, Rocky Ewing Vaughan Sr.; her former husband, Robert Warren Vaughan Sr.; and numerous other family members.
She is survived by her son, Lonnie Drennan Vaughan II of Waco; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Gisela Vaughan of Waco and Janet Vaughan of Hubbard; and many other family members.
