Charles Royce Murdock, 77, of Waco passed away on February 3, 2015 after a valiant battle. A memorial service will be held Monday, February 9, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Lake Shore Funeral Home. Burial will take place Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
Charles was born and raised in Houston, TX. He served in the United States Air Force from 1954-1959. He had many interesting stories from his Air Force days and enjoyed reflecting on times while stationed in France along with his other travels throughout Europe. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service, Armco Steel, owned a successful advertising specialty business, and finally retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in 1999.
Charles was a kind man with a quick wit and keen sense of humor. He had a love for U.S. and World History, especially early Texas History, Native American Culture, archaeology, and art. As an artist himself, he painted colorful pictures, mostly depicting Native Americans and the U.S. Southwest.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Royce and Allie Murdock; and former wife, Shirley Murdock.
He is survived by one brother, Fred Whiddon of Denton; two sons, Craig Murdock of Waco, and Darren Murdock and wife Tracy of Tulsa, OK; two grandsons, Myles and Mitchell Murdock of Tulsa, OK; and various cousins, nieces, and nephews; and special long time friend Delores Ward and family of Waco.
