Charlsie Poe Lassetter, 90, of Bosqueville, passed away Friday, June 10, 2016.

Visitation: Wednesday, June 15, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Lake Shore Funeral Home, Waco.

Funeral service: Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Lake Shore Funeral Home.

Charlsie was born December 2, 1925 in Clyde, Texas to Charles and Lydia Curd Jennings. She married James Lester Poe in 1945 and together they had five children. Mr. Poe passed away in 1968 and in 1969, Charlsie married Raymond Lassetter. They were married for twelve years before he passed away.

Charlsie loved all things outdoors. Her favorite place to be was fishing on Lake Mexia. When not fishing, she enjoyed gardening and any other yard work she could find to do (even gathering and counting pecans and acorns!). She had a passion for growing and canning her own vegetables. When family or friends came to visit, they almost always left with some of her home grown canned goodies.

She retired from Owens-Illinois after 14 years of service. Then she moved to Lake Mexia, where she lived the next 40 years of her life. Many of those years she worked for Mexia State School.

Charlsie was preceded in death by two sons, Randy Allen Poe and James Michael Poe; a grandson, Richard Troy Poe; and all 11 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her two daughters, Sharon Ann Reid of Gholson and Judy Dominguez and husband, John of China Spring; one son, Tony Poe and wife, Barbara of Hewitt; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be J. B. Dominguez, Colton Scallion, Caleb Scallion, Jim Alexander, Jason Alexander and Kevin Nelson.

The family would like to give a special “Thank you” to the 6 a.m. – 2 p.m. shift at the Lake Shore Village Healthcare Center, including housekeeping, nursing and physical therapy and a special “Thank you” to Gina and Belyna.

Condolence Messages

  1. Barbara & Johnny Purcell

Our heartfelt condolences, prayers and love to the family. My husband and I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting her but through Teresa we were lucky to become close to her family and shall remain close forever. I do however believe years ago,Teresa had to travel to Texas to attend her other Grandmothers funeral & my husband and I took care of her son Julian while she was in Texas. When Teresa returned she gave me 2 kitchen towels with crochet tops from”Pawpaw”for taking good care of her great.great grandson. Those 2 towels remain in my kitchen,on my refrigerator to this day. Rest In Peace PawPaw
