Clara Mae Welden, 88, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2020.

She was born in Taylor, Texas May 20,1932 to Louie and Bertha Kaase. She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church. She was baptized and also confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in New Bern, Texas. Clara had one sister and one brother and grew up on a working farm. She played trucks with her younger brother and he played dolls with her for a much longer time. She worked at her first job and bought her mom a new stove. She was so proud. Clara met and married, Willie Welden, in Thrall, Texas on April 19, 1958. They later had three children, Billy, Ricky, and Rebecca.
She loved all her grandchildren. She was a skilled seamstress, loved canning, country music, and her favorite bird was a hummingbird. Clara worked at Southland Corporation for 25 years and then went to work at J&S Barnet for 6 years. She went back to school and became a nursing assistant and worked at Hillcrest Hospital for another 17 years from which she retired at age 78. She was a friend to everyone she met. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will truly be missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her sister, Helen Stauffer and her husband, Ruben.
Survivors include her husband, Willie Welden; sons, William Welden and wife, Amy, and Richard Welden and wife, Sharon; daughter, Rebecca Duve and husband, Harvey; brother, Herman Kaase and wife, Doris; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
