Clarice was born August 27, 1935 in Lott, Texas to the late James Quinon, Sr. and Sarah K. Thompson Watson. One of seven children, Clarice was raised in the Waco area and graduated from Moore High School. She spent most of her life in the Richmond, Virginia area. Clarice was a hardworking and strong lady, for many years holding down two jobs. She worked for over 30 years at Memorial Regional Hospital in Richmond as a nurse, while at the same time was Housekeeping Supervisor for the State of Virginia. Clarice retired for the state after 42 years of devoted service. Clarice returned to Texas in 2007, where she became active in her church, Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Waco. Clarice married, Thomas Currin, they were married for over 56 years, and though they lived her last days apart, it was his voice that brought her peace every day and was one of the last voices she heard before gently passing away. Clarice was preceded in death by her parents, James Quinon and Sarah K. Watson, Sr.; brother, James Quinon Watson, Jr.; and sister, Katy Myrle Chatman.

Clarice is survived by her siblings, Ava L. Stokes and husband Ronald, Thurman Watson, Sr. and wife Maggie, Rev. Jack Watson and wife Betty, Levon Hoyle, and Helen Simmons all of Waco; husband of 56 years, Thomas Currin of Newark, NJ; a host of loving nieces, nephews and other loving family members. They will all cherish “Aunt Sis” and miss her deeply.

Those wishing to make memorial donations in Clarice’s honor should do so to the American Cancer Society or the ASPCA, which were some that she contributed to faithfully over the years.
