Connie Mae Cummings, 94, of Waco, formerly of Lorena, passed away Thursday, May 22nd at her residence.
Services: 10AM Tuesday, May 27th at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel
Visitation: 2 to 4PM Sunday, May 25th, at Lake Shore Funeral Home

Connie Mae DuPriest Cummings was born November 28, 1919 in Athens, Texas to Claude A. and Johnnie G. (Pyles) DuPriest. At age 4, she moved with her family to Dallas, which became her home. She graduated from Crozier Tech High School in Dallas in 1937. She married Eddie Cummings on February 12, 1938. Shortly after they married, Eddie was called by God to preach. They pastored Southern Baptist Churches in the State of Texas and Florida for over 50 years. Connie touched the lives of countless young ladies, teaching them about faith in God and how to sing to God’s glory. She had a beautiful voice. She was also a talented artist, creative writer, and an executive secretary in the Texas Department of Health. She and Eddie moved to Lorena and joined the First Baptist Church of Lorena where her membership remained until her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eddie Cummings; brothers, Harvey DuPriest and Billy Joe DuPriest; sisters, Lena Mastin and Jeannie Meier; grandson, Mike Cummings; and grandson-in-law, John Fincannon.
Survivors include sons, Pat Cummings and wife Ann of Waco, Don Cummings and wife Sharon of Conroe; daughter, Pam Jones and husband Maxey of Whitney; grandchildren, Rick Cummings and wife Cheryl, Donnie Cummings, Daniel Cummings and wife Kim, David Cummings, Amy Fincannon, and Max Jones; great-grandchildren, Erik Cummings and fiancée Mindy Griffin, Leah Cummings, Abbey Cummings-Fincannon, Gavin Fincannon and Dylan Cummings; sister-in-law, Joyce DuPriest; brother-in-law, Curtis Meier; many wonderful nephews and nieces; and a host of friends.
The family would like to express our appreciation to the staff of Emeritus at Meadowland’s Terrace, and residents, for their care and friendship over the last few years.
I went to church with Mrs. Cummings in Lorena. She was a very sweet lady. I am sorry to hear of her passing. You are in my prayers.
I worked at Meadowlands and had the absolute pleasure of taking care of Mrs. Cummings. She was always so kind and so happy. She will truly be missed by so many!
I am the Activity Director at Meadowlands Terrace and It was a pleasure getting to know Mrs. Cummings. She always had a pleasant word and lovely smile. I enjoyed looking at all of her paintings and pigs. She will always be in our hearts here at Meadowlands Terrace. She will be missed.
