Darlene Louise Heintz, 53, of Lorena, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Providence Hospice Place in Waco.
Visitation: 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, October 22, at Lake Shore Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, at Lake Shore Funeral Home with Chaplain Tim Anderson officiating.
Darlene was born March 5, 1965 in Stockton, California to Otis and Mary Cardwell. She served 15 years in the US Navy and was deployed to Germany in 2007 and returned to the United States in 2008. She then earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 2015 and worked for the past three years in the Emergency Room at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; aunt, Frances Fletcher; cousin, Julie Junk; and uncle, Mateo Ammirati.
She is survived by her daughters, Anna Taylor and husband, Shawn and Isabella Cardwell; sisters, Betty Sampson and husband, Terry, Gina Carroll and husband, Shawn, Geri Cardwell and Darlene’s twin sister, Irene Raleigh; her brother, Bud Cardwell and wife, Katy; sister-in-law, Trish Haro; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Darlene was truly one of the kindest people I’ve ever known. Her bright smile was infectious and she made acquaintances feel like friends she had known all of their lives. Her service to our country and to all those she touched in the ER at BSWH Hillcrest hospital are so greatly appreciated. She will be missed. May God’s comfort and peace be felt by her family and all who knew this dear friend.
Darlene was one of the kindest and positive people I ever knew. I truly enjoyed her bright personality and kind heart. I pray for her family that God brings them peace during this time. We love you Darlene. Rest in peace my friend and shipmate.
I had the privilege of serving with Darlene in the navy Reserve in Fort Worth and she was a squared a sailor. I am saddened by her passing but grateful for the opportunity to have know her. May she Rest In Peace and the Lord comfort her family.

I did not know Darlene well, but I will always remember her smile. She visited with Gina and Shawn who were longtime neighbors. I pray peace for all who knew and loved her. ????????
May god fill Bella and the rest of the family members with is peace. Darlene was a woman of faith and courage. I had the honor to teach her in Nursing school. She was one of my favorite students. I remember her telling me “all I want is to do is to make sure my Bella is safe and graduate as a nurse before I leave this world”

I had the privilege of serving with Darlene in the Navy Reserve at NAS/JRB Fort Worth. I remember her as a positive, hard-working, dedicated Ssilor. Shee was also one of the most kind-hearted people I’ve known. RIP shipmate. Prayers for your family.
