David E. Sloan, 77, of Hewitt, passed away Thursday, January 19th.
Memorial Graveside Service: 2PM Thursday, January 26th at Oakwood Cemetery with military honors rendered by the U.S. Army.
David was born on August 19, 1939 in Mangum, Oklahoma to Clarence Sloan and Beatrice Armstrong Sloan.
Mr. Sloan joined the Army at seventeen years of age. He spent 19 years in the Army which included serving four tours of duty in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Rangers; MacV Recondo and the 75thInfantry Brigade. For his service to our country, he was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star with Valor, the Army Commendation Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Commendation Medal. Mr. Sloan retired from Lux Packaging/Inter-Mex supply in 2008.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill Sloan; and sister, Jean Clemmens.
Survivors include his wife, Robbie Sloan; children, daughters, Donna Sloan of Ft. Jones, CA, Beatrice Sellen and husband John of Lawton, OK, and Diane Sloan of Dayton, OH,; stepchildren, Deanne Roberts and husband Mike of Waco, and Jason Huber of Golinda; five granddaughters; siblings, Mrs. Kathy Moss of Sayre, OK, and Mrs. Susan Wooden and husband Johnny of Mustang, OK.
The family would like to acknowledge a special thank you to Visiting Angels, Providence Health Center, and Providence Hospice for your excellent professional care and concern.
In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America.
