David Lee Windle passed away Wednesday morning, September 7, 2022, in his home in Lacy-Lakeview.
He was born February 15, 1957, to Wanda Mae Thomas and Bobby Lee Windle at the James Connally Air Force base in Waco. As an adult he served on the USS Howard W. Gilmore for the United States Navy. After the Navy, he worked in Waco with Johnson Roofing until he injured his back and underwent multiple spinal surgeries. His niece, Naomi encouraged him to pursue a relationship with Jesus Christ in 2018 when they shared responsibility of caring for his mother. He was baptized on January 28, 2019, at the Church Under the Bridge in Waco.
He is preceded in death by both his parents and grandparents as well as his aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his sons, David Windle and wife Mercedes of Axtell, Bobby Windle and wife Marlana of Waco, Jonathan Windle and wife Amanda of China Spring; grandchildren, Collin “CJ”, Cody, Kenzlee, Sawyer, Mark, Victor, Aries, Ayla, Alexander, Adaline; sister, Cynthia Windle of Waco; nieces, Bridget Heins and husband Michael, their children Rebecca and Mikey, Crystal Zimmerman and her children Alexander and Melody, Naomi Contreras Marciel and her children Malakai and Rosaleigh, and several cousins he loved dearly.
Pallbearers are David Windle, Jonathan Windle, Gary Maddux, Tim Mauzey.
