David Rufus Kruschke, born February 27, 1942, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and who peacefully departed on August 7, 2020, in Waco, Texas, was a man of exceptional talents and unwavering devotion. His legacy is one of a dedicated educator, a visionary mathematician, a pioneering engineer, and an authority in the realm of solar energy.
A celebration of David’s extraordinary life will be held on October 14, 2023, at the Dewey Community Center in Waco, Texas. As we come together to honor his memory, let us recall the brilliance of his intellect, the warmth of his heart, and the enduring impact he had on the lives he touched.
David’s life was a testament to his deep-seated love for education and the nurturing of curious minds. With an extraordinary gift for mathematics and electronics, he generously imparted his knowledge to countless students. Beyond the classroom, he authored works that ignited a passion for the captivating worlds of math and electronics in the hearts of many. In his professional pursuits, David excelled not merely as a math teacher but as an engineer, pilot, and authority on geodesic domes and solar energy.
Beyond his professional achievements, David was a devoted husband, father, and cherished friend. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 24 years, Barbara Ann Kruschke, and three sons, Lee Kruschke and his wife Rika, Johnny Kruschke, and David John Kruschke and his wife Yelena. David also embraced his role as a stepfather to Kathy Reindau, Gena Jean and her husband Stevie, Anne Anderson and her husband Terry, and Duane Ellefson and his wife Tamika. His legacy is further enriched by his grandchildren, Vincent, Victoria, Allen, Kiera, Evan, Melany, Typhani, Jacob, Caleb, Jordan, Joseph, Kelly, and Melanie.
David’s journey was marked by both joy and sorrow. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman O. Kruschke and Florence Kruschke; two brothers, Richard Kruschke, William (Billy) Kruschke; step-son, Michael Funk, and grandson, Andrew Stukes.
