Dean Markwardt, 84, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2017.
Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 26, at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend, in Waco.
Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 27, at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Robert Krobler officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Dean was born on December 24, 1932, in Malone, to the late Henry and Ida Huse Markwardt. After his schooling, Dean worked at Owens Illinois Glass Plant for several years before moving to the Fort Worth area to join his brother in the ceiling fan business. Dean married the love of his life, Colleen Davison, January 23, 1976. He enjoyed being outdoors, he was a true outdoorsman. Golfing, fishing and gardening brought him great joy. He and Colleen moved back to the Waco area in 2000. Dean attended St. Mark Lutheran Church for many years.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Darrell Markwardt and H. W. Markwardt.
Dean is survived by his beloved bride of nearly 42 years, Colleen Davison Markwardt of Waco; children, Greg Markwardt and wife, Sherry, of Waco, Randy Markwardt of Virginia Beach, VA, Royce Galyen and wife, Debbie, of Waco, and Sherry Galyen of Temple; sister, Ruth Havis of Waco; grandchildren, Sheana, Royce Jr., Shane, Crystal, Jason, Ryan and Korina; eight great-grandchildren; nephews, David Havis, Scott Havis, Mike Markwardt and Steve Markwardt.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to the doctors and staff at Providence Hospice Place, for all their loving care shown to Dean and the family over the past few days.

My thoughts are with each of you. I love you all.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family. If I would have known he had passes I would have been there to pay my last respects. (I just seen it in the paper a few minutes ago). Some of my fondest memories of visiting my biological father was when we went to “Papa Dean’s” house. It saddens me that no contacted me to let me know he passed. My heart is beyond broken! My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
