Delbert Loyd Whiteside, 56, went to be with the Lord April 23, 2013 at Scott & White Hospital wrapped up in the arms of his beloved sweetheart of 38 years. Funeral Services will be 9:30 AM Friday, April 26th at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel at 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco. Graveside ceremony to follow at White Oak Cemetery in Thicket, Texas. Delbert was born October 21, 1956 to J.L. and Virginia Whiteside of Thicket, Texas. He graduated from West Hardin High School in 1975 and then earned his Masters in Agricultural Business from Sam Houston State University. He married his high school love, Vicki LeNormand, May 28, 1977. Together they raised three children, enjoyed hunting and fishing trips, and precious moments with their grandchildren who are the light of their lives. Delbert spent his career as a dedicated teacher for 28 years retiring in 2009. He was an active community member and supporter of 4-H as well as being a member of Top Hand Cowboy Church.

Pallbearers for the service of Mr. Delbert Whiteside are Jesse Garn, Chad George, Randy Hunnicutt, Dale Norris, Eric Singer, and James Allen Whiteside. Honorary Pallbearers include Troy Bird, Jimmy Ditto, Jerry Falls, Larry Garrett, Bert Stengel, Tim Talbert, and many other loving friends.

Delbert is preceded in death by his parents, J.L. and Virginia Whiteside. Survivors include his wife Vicki of China Spring; daughter Debbie Singer and husband Eric of McGregor; son, Joseph Whiteside and wife Danielle of Denton; daughter Virginia Whiteside and Randy Hunnicutt of Elm Mott; three sisters, Sylvia Burnett and husband Carl of Sudan, Lavena George and husband Gary of Sugarland, Leta Moffett of Houston; brother, James Whiteside and wife Teresa of Thicket; seven grandchildren, J.L., Jacob, Gracelynn, and Daniel Singer, Tanner and Seth Whiteside, and Rustin Hunnicutt, due to arrive this summer; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever cherish Delbert’s memory.
