Donovan I really did not get to know you except a few times from my daughter(KK). You helped Tyler at Whitney’s funeral. Whitney was like my other daughter and I will be ever so thankful and greatful for you being such a great friend to Tyler, KK and everyone else through that terrible loss also. Your smile, personality and willingness to help anybody will be missed. Now I can say you were the first among us all to see our beautiful Whitney again and I hope yall both dwell in the house of the Lord in his many rooms and run and life and play in the garden. Save a place for us all. God Bless you Donovan and your family.

Chris I am truly sorry for your loss. Thank u for letting me be his "mom" for the time I was. I love Donovan very much and no matter what happend he was always in my heart, thoughts, and prayers, but I never worried because I knew if anything he had you. I am so glad I got a chance to let him know that just a few weeks ago. You did an amazing job with Donovan. I know people will tell you to be strong for Christian, I was told to be strong for my kids after Jose passed, but just remember to take time for yourself too. I have so many memories of Donovan from school days to his first ball game. I remember one coach telling donovan, who was all suited up, "slow down boy you ain’t made it to the pros yet" Well my son you can do anything now. I love you so so much & my heart hurts for you. May you rest in peace. you will be missed by many. And just like the last thing you said to me " I hope to see you soon" Love you always.

my prayers are with you…
You will be missed and never forgotten.
No one knows or can explain how something so tragic like this can happen. I myself can just ask Why?
Donovan was such a good boy. So respectable, so sweet. He had such a good head on his shoulders. And that in itself was a miracle, with him being raised by a single father who was so committed to him, so involved and so determined for his son to finish school and make something for himself.
My prayers go out to Chris and Christian may God grant them understanding and peace in something so tragic.
We love you guys so much, and want you to know that we are here for you no matter what.
Your friends,
Eddie and Jennifer Vera

Please God lead this family thru this difficult time. We all loved Donovan so much at the high school. Donovan, you gave me one of the best laughs I had all year last year when you were in my room. This will always be a memory that will make me smile. We will miss you around here. High Five Buddy!!
Dearest Brother we regret the loss of such a young life and send our condolences to you and Stephanie and to Chris and his family. We know this is a difficult time for all and we are keeping you in our prayers and thoughts.
I just wanted to share my condolences with Donovan
Donavan was just at our home this past summer with Bobby & Lisa. I couldn’t get over how much he had grown from the last time we saw him. I joked with him telling him he just made me feel older & that I could feel the grey’s popping out. He was always so respectful. My heart aches for his family. My prayers go out to all of you & to the family of Samantha Buis. Chris & Steph, I wish I had the right words to help get you thru this time, but know that now he is with the Lord preparing the way for the rest of us. God Bless & take care. We love you
I do not know your family but I read of this tragedy in the newspaper, what a handsome young man and Short Stop on the baseball team – my son plays 2nd Base and Short Stop. DONOVAN WAS A GOOD PERSON TO BE AROUND, I’VE KNOWN HIM SINCE ELEMENTARY AND HE WAS WITH US AT UMS AND UHS.HE WAS ALWAYS SMILING NO MATTER WHAT.HE WAS JUST AN ALL AROUND GOOD FRIEND.HE WILL TRULY BE MISSED BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN. TO DONOVAN’S PARENTS, YOU GUYS RAISED A GOOD BOY AND HIS JOB HERE ON EARTH WAS DONE. WE ALL HAVE A CALLING AND DONOVAN HAS ACCOMPLISHED HIS. DO NOT DWELL ON HOW HE DIED, BUT ALWAYS REMEMBER HOW HE LIVED. in loving memory of donovan! we love you man!
I have known Donovan for several years, he was one of the sweetest boys you could meet. It didn’t matter how old he got or how big he was, he always had a big hug for me. These days you don’t run across many teen-age boys that are so willing to do that sort of thing, especially in front of friends. He was like a second son to me and the loss is terribly hard to deal with. My daughter, Whitney, passed earlier this year and Donovan was there every step of the way helping my son through that difficult time. I will forever be thankful to him for that. We have lost a wonderful young man…
Donovan, you know how much Whitney loved you and looked to you like another older brother so give my baby a hug for me when you see her and know that I love you and will miss you as well….
My prayers are with Chris and Christian, God bless you both.
May God Bless You and yours. I lost my 17 yr old nephew 2 years ago in an auto accident. He was a star baseball and football player in Santa Fe, TX. My thoughts and heartfelt sympathy and prayers are with you. I know how difficult this time is.
My family and I wanted you to know that we are very sorry for your loss. We did not know your son personally but we feel so sad for such ending. We hear that he was a great son and friend and we believe that because of his character he will always be remembered. We will keep you in our prayers and hope that the pain will ease with time.

Chris my thoughts and prayers are with you and christian. Donovan was a very sweet boy and very respectful to others, he was raised well. He will be missed very much.
Donovan was a delightful young man. His warmpth and athleticism will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family.
What a great young man. Pride yourself in a job well done in raising a fine respectful young man.
I will miss his laugh, hugs (he could give the best), joking personality. Most of all I will miss hearing him say, "Awwww, Ms. Spruiell" when I would walk between him and Sam in the hallways to create a "little space." May your faith in God help you begin the healing process.
A young man whose time was cut way too short. I met Donovan on just a few occasions but each time I knew I had a met a bright person with a wonderful future ahead of him. Always well mannered and respectful. I will remember him as a true fried to Tyler and a wonderful support to bring a smile to Leah even in the darkest days surrounding the death of Whitney. Even though his life was cut short, he touched the hearts of so many people. No words will bring you peace, but please know the community of China Spring prays for your comfort and Gods grace for your family.

Words cannot express how sorry we are to hear about the loss of your son. We met Donovan a couple of years ago when he visited his aunt & aunt (Lisa & Robert) in San Antonio. He was here this summer and my son really enjoyed the time he spent with him playing football and video games. He was very sweet and respectful and he was always welcomed in our home. Our hearts go out to you in your time of sorrow. May God give you the strength to find peace and comfort during this trial. Donovan will truly be missed but just remember that now you have an angel watching over you.
My prayers are with your family in your loss of Donovan. His smile will always be remembered in the halls of CSHS.
