Douglas Allen Whisenhunt, 55 of Waco, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 23, 2022.
Visitation: 5PM – 7PM Friday, April 1, 2022 at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral Service: 11:00AM Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel. Burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
Douglas was born January 20, 1967, in Waco, Texas to Rufus Allen Bettinger Jr, and Donna Elaine Drews, and attended Lorena High School, class of 1985. During his career, he worked for both EMSI in Human Resources and the City of Waco in IT, where he formed special relationships with many coworkers. Earlier in his years he also served as a volunteer firefighter for the Leroy Volunteer Fire Department. Doug loved spending his time with family and friends, specifically his two granddaughters, Raelynn and Oaklynn. In the evenings he enjoyed soaking in the hot tub with his husband, Michael, followed by relaxing on the couch with his fur babies. He enjoyed the outdoors; riding motorcycles, ATVs, boating, attending car shows, traveling and going on cruises with his husband, Family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen Bettinger and Donna Reese; paternal grandparents, Rufus Allen Bettinger Sr, Kathryn Bettinger; maternal grandparents, John and Lorretta Drews; brother-in-law, Nathan Fisk, and his fur baby Champ.
Survivors include his loving husband of 6 years, Michael Whisenhunt of Waco; mother, Pat Bettinger of Lorena; Mother-in-law Sally Whisenhunt of Waco; sisters, Kristen Ketchum of Waco, Cheryl Eickenhorst of Waco, and Pam Bettinger Cortasie, and husband Sammy of Eddy; brother, Michael Bettinger and husband Donovan of Dallas; daughter, Cheyenne Seely of Lorena; grandchildren, Raelynn Childress and Oaklynn Seely of Lorena, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, fur babies, Koda, Cash, Nico, and Mia and many special family friends.
Memorials may be made to the Waco Humane Society or Fuzzy friends in his honor.
