Ed was born February 27,1946 to Benard & Allene (Spruiell) Shilling in Hubbard. Ed grew up in the Elm Mott area. Most people remember “those Shilling boys” around Elm Mott. Ed met his wife Glenda when they were 14 years old and they married at 18 years old. They have been together for 61 years and married for 57 of those years. Not sure how Ed put up with Glenda all of those years, but he would ask her, have I told you “I Love You Today“ and how beautiful you are. Glenda sure adored him and was hoping for another 61 years.
Ed loved time with his family and friends and enjoyed playing dominoes and pool, and playing football and baseball. Anyone that knew Ed well knows how Ed loved to tell stories and he could outwork everyone. He spent his life as a cattle hauler and a meticulous equipment operator. One of Ed’s greatest accomplishments was becoming an ordained minister. Ed also loved to help people and always put others before himself.
Ed has one daughter, Stacy Shilling-Schier and husband Russell Schier. Ed and Russell treated each other as if they were father and son. Grandkids, Amanda Shilling and the family dog “Duke”, Chance Shilling and girlfriend Melissa Tanner, Coy Schier, and Riley Schier and fiancé Lexi Maler.
He also has one son, Shane Shilling and wife LaJuana that he also thought of as his daughter. Grandkids, Brandon Shilling and wife Auburn Shilling, and Chad Shilling and wife Alex. Great-grandkids, Noah Shilling, Lane Shilling, Addison Shilling, Moses Shilling, Shila Shilling, and Macy Shilling.
His surviving brothers are Benny Shilling and wife Linda, Jimmy Shilling and wife Carolyn; his mother-in-law, Louise Anderson; and brother–in-law, Jerry Lynch.
He has many nieces and nephews that he has a special bond with and thought a lot of, as well as many cousins and friends. \
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Danny Shilling and grandparents on both sides as well as some special aunts, uncles and cousins; and his father-in law, A.J. Lynch.
He will be greatly missed and his legacy will live on through his family. We sure have tough shoes to fill.

Glenda Shilling & family
God wrap your loving arms around the entire family. Ed always was a sweet man, hardworking and a great ” Cuz ” to my Dad. He stood out as a Father to his family and a husband to Glenda. You could always see how they looked at one another still. I hope for comfort in the days ahead, I hope for all the good memories to remain in your hearts. My deepest sympathy.
Missy,

We know you know all too well how this feels. Ed left us with many great memories to cherish and he did love his family with all he had. A special man!
❤️ Glenda Shilling & family
Glenda, Stacy, Shane and the entire family, I pray God will hold you close and give you peace and comfort. Uncle Ed or Stud (what my daddy used to call him) is celebrating with all the ones that have gone before him. I know he and Danny have the rest of the family in stitches catching up and telling their stories!!
Growing up, I never felt I fit in with “those Shilling boys” because I was younger. The older we got, it got better, but these last few years, I fell like Ed and I really clicked. We tried to make up for lost time with our many phone calls and texts. Never got to go to Jakes……stupid COVID!! I felt accepted and so close to him. Wish we would had started sooner.
I love you, Ed…..see you later!
Debbie & Joe, Thanks for your visits and great food you brought . Ed loved your calls and text and cherished his cousins. We remember the days of your dad and Pa calling him “Stud”, can hear their voices now.
The necklace and pictures were a great keepsake and dearly appreciated. We love y’all and appreciate everything!! Girl, how can you not fit in, you are the life of the party! Talk to you soon!! ❤️❤️
Ed was a great man and had a sense of humor. We will miss him dearly, prayers to the family. May he rest in peace.

Glenda, Stacy & Shane My heart goes out to you all. Ed is now in heaven with the angels singing.
You have no more pain.
So sad to hear of Ed’s passing. My sincere condolences go out to the entire family. I will always remember the special bond the Shilling brothers had with daddy and Uncle Don. May you find peace and comfort in the days ahead. I know he will be truly missed.
My deepest sympathy to you all. Ed was always someone to look up to, any time you stopped him to visit or he stopped you there was always a laugh or a story. The laughs would last a long time ,but the stories ,it might take days and some you would be in one state and wind up going through or in six others before the story ended. Requiescat in pace my Fine Friend. May God be with you all. ” Twister”

We are saddened to hear of Ed’s passing. I lived across the street from Ed and Glenda in Lacy lakeview before we moved to Elm Mott. Ed would always walk over to our house to set in the yard and talk when he was home and off the road. I really enjoyed talking and laughing with Ed and will never forget how happy he always was and his one of a kind ” snickering laugh”. Our condolences go out to the family, just remember Ed may be gone however, he will always be remembered as a fun loving, caring, and helpful person. May you rest easy Ed, we will never forget you.
