Elmer Shepperd, 93 of Waco, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2016.
Memorial Service: Celebrating Elmer’s life will be Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 10:00AM at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend, Waco.
Reception: Following the celebration of Elmer’s life his family invites you to join them for coffee and donuts and further memory sharing at the reception center at Lake Shore Funeral Home.
Elmer was born July 21, 1922 in Thornton, Texas to Thad and Ollie Sheppard. In 1941, Elmer married Geneva Beard, who was a native of Thornton. Elmer was well-known for his love of car racing and as a quality home builder.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Geneva; his daughter, Donna Shepperd Mitchell; six brothers and two sisters.
Elmer is survived by his grandson, Rusty Mitchell and his wife Missy of Waco; great granddaughter, Mariah Mitchell Kilbride and her husband, Thomas; and great great grandson, Tyson and Tate Kilbride.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Smith, Bill White, Danny Randolph, Bill Osborne, Dale Osborne, Dan Tate, and Tater “Thad” Tate.

Elmer and my Dad, Shepperd Gibson, were first cousins. I hadn’t seen Elmer since our last Reunion but I always enjoyed listening to Elmer and my Dad talk about the “Good Old Days”. What stories they could tell! I also enjoyed visiting with Elmer about the old cars that he had restored. My thoughts are with his family tonight.
