Elouise Jefferson was born on April 27, 1946, in Madisonville, to Lamar Jefferson and Ella Josey Lee. As a youth, she attended the Historic Marian Anderson High School and was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. She later moved to Mart for a period of time where she worked and lived with her mother and sister. Being big on family, she made her way to Waco where she raised her children. Her face would always light up with smiles and she had a hilarious sense of humor. She was affectionately known as the “Cool Cup Lady” in Trendwood River Oaks Apartments, as she ran her general store selling a variety of candies, chips and drinks, of which children from near and far came to experience her treats and infectious personality.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lamar Jefferson and Ella Josey Lee; sister , Lillian McDaniel; husband of 37 years, Kenneth Wayne Alexander; son, Cedrick Jefferson; and grandson, Terrance Jefferson.
Elouise leaves to cherish her memories, sons, Edward Jefferson (Rose) of Waco, and Roderick Birks (Selma) of China Spring; daughters, Linda Brown (Donald), and LaShunda Birks both of Waco; brothers, James Jefferson (Maime) of Baton Rouge, LA and LaDon Jefferson (Ruby) of Houston; sisters, JoAnn McCoy of Bryan and Lisa Jefferson Hall (Craig) of Madisonville; and godson, Steve Clay of Houston.
She has adored a loving twelve grandchildren, Terrell (Jenae), LaTarsha, Shavone (DeMagio), LaKrisha, Fredrick Jr. (LaSonya), Cedrick, Tyrea, Dareicka, Ken’Dria, Antonio, Yasmine, and Maya; fifteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
