Ernest Wayne Pack, Sr., 71, of Waco, returned to his heavenly home Wednesday, August 23, 2017 after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Service Information: The funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel, 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco, with Pastor Barry Camp as Celebrant. A committal service and interment will follow at Wortham Bend Cemetery in China Spring.
Visitation: A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 25th at Lake Shore Funeral Home.
Ernie was born in Bosqueville, October 7, 1945 to the late James and Molly Cohen Pack. He owned and operated Texas Hair Force for over 40 years. In 1974 he met his best friend and the love of his life, Shirley Marie Robinson; they married January 9, 1976 in Durant, Oklahoma.
He and Shirley were blessed with a large and loving family; from the very beginning, he dedicated his children to God and encouraged them to explore the beauty of the Gospels. Ernie was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. He could tell the greatest jokes.
Ernie is survived by his wife, Shirley; three sons, Wayne Pack of Stockdale, Nathan Pack and wife Lindsay, of Waco and Andrew Parsons and wife Jill, of China Spring; his daughter, Earline Todd and husband Michael of Monks Corner, South Carolina; and ten grandchildren, Haley Pack, David Pack, Megan Parsons, Aaron Parsons, Juliann Johnson, Alaina Wilson, Zoey Harkins, Crystal Francis, Michelle Todd, and Chris Green.
He is preceded in death by his parents and multiple siblings.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to the many staff members at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital, as well as the hospital hospice team for the loving care and support through this difficult time; they have done a tremendous job at showing and sharing the love of Jesus with their entire family.

Ernie was a rare gem and he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was a great friend who was generous with encouragement, kind words, and entertaining jokes. His love of Jesus was obvious and he wasn’t afraid to let you know it.
I never heard him raise his voice, speak in anger, or speak ill of anyone.

I think some of the very best conversations I ever had was while sitting in Ernie’s chair. He would make me think. He would always make me laugh. The visit was good for the soul.

Ernest was such a precious soul! Such a sweet, sweet man! He gave our son, Ryan, his very first haircut and that was 39 years ago. ‘Have often thought of him through the years. Our prayers go out to his family.
Ernie is the first person to cut my hair back in Sept. 1976 for a MD cut a thon. When I started getting colors and perms, Shirley started doing my hair. Ernie will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Ernie is a kind hearted man that loved the Lord and his family.
