Forrest Eugene Blackburn, 62, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024.

Celebration of Life: 10:30AM Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel with Viewing and Visitation from 9-10:30am.

Forrest Blackburn was born March 4, 1962. He had a profound passion for the outdoors, which he shared with his friends and family through various activities such as camping, fishing, and hunting. He devoted significant time, often traveling great distances, to be present at events for his children and grandchildren, including motor-cross, horseback riding, rodeo, and various sports. His dedication extended to ensuring his parents had transportation to their activities as well, exemplifying his commitment to his family and friends. Forrest was known for his willingness to offer assistance whenever possible.

In 1980, Forrest graduated from and was the Salutatorian for China Spring High School. He later graduated from TSTC with his certification in Environmental Engineering. He earned  a commercial real estate license in Austin, Texas. He later worked with his dad and brothers at his dad’s plumbing construction company in Waco. He worked all around Texas and Florida remodeling and helping rebuild after natural disasters.

Forrest was an accomplished swimmer on the Dolphins Swim Team, earning numerous medals primarily excelling in the breaststroke. As an 11-year-old his elementary school principal had him join an adult chess club owing to his advanced skills. There was no challenging competition for him in his age group. Additionally, he played Pop Warner Football, leading to a successful football career in Middle and High School where he earned the nickname “The Stump.” This name was earned by being so small and fast that the opposing team found it difficult to tackle him, and he often was able to tackle their quarterback. Notably, he was recognized as the smallest 3A first-string player in the state of Texas and contributed to the success of the State Champion team at China Spring High School.

Forrest is preceded in death by his nephew Austin Blackburn.

He is survived by the love of his life, Susan, who he was  married to for 32 years; parents, Larry and Jan Blackburn; brothers, Farron and wife Rebecca Blackburn, Brandon and wife Jamie Blackburn; children, Nicole and husband Wayne Weber, Devin and wife Lauren Blackburn, Blake Collier; grandchildren, Brinley, Wyatt, Flint and Sonora Weber, Reagan and Cason Blackburn and Brody Collier.
