Gale Lynn Daughtry

Gale went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 4, 2022, at 3:46 p.m.  With great strength she fought a courageous battle from complications due to a stroke.  Gale was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed away peacefully at Providence Hospital surrounded by loved ones. The hospital and hospice care were a blessing, even allowing her precious dog “Bonita” to visit her and say goodbye.

Gale is survived by her husband, Ronnie Daughtry; her two daughters, Lois Avey (married to Mark Avey) and Lora Hester (married to Brian Hester);  son, Joey Jeffrey; grandchildren, Gage Ivey, Talon Ivey, Kayla Murphy (married to Tom Murphy); great-grandchildren, Maddison “Maddi” Bender, and Evangeline “Evie” Murphy; two sisters, Barbara Banks and Dorothy Norris; and one brother, Bush Smitherman.  Gale was preceded in death by her parents Gracie Loraine Smitherman on August 4, 2002, and Robert Howard Smitherman on August 6, 2002.

Gale lived a simple life and always enjoyed making others laugh and smile. She was endlessly benevolent while caring for loved ones, always putting them before herself.  She lovingly spent the last decade of her life as a caregiver to her handicapped husband with nurturing hands and a kind heart. Gale continued that selfless care to many after her passing by choosing to be an organ donor.  Because of this selfless gift, she was able to assist over a hundred people to live better lives.

St. Matthew 5:8 “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.”
