Dee passed away February 18, 2023, in Waco surrounded by family and friends during her final days.
Glenda Kay “Dee” Seitz was born October 31, 1960, in Payson, Arizona to Emily Wier and Glenn Wier and the oldest of five children. She spent her childhood growing up in Lott, graduating from Rosebud-Lott High School in 1979. After graduating, she married Rickey Afinowicz of Marlin, Texas and together they had two sons, Chris and Codey. In 1988, Dee met her true love, Terry Seitz of Palestine, Texas on Valentine’s Day where they quickly fell in love. On August 19 of that year, they were married, and she gained her stepson, Shawn Seitz; and together they raised their three young boys. Over the years she worked many jobs that allowed her to explore her creative side, including Artifacts Inc. and Ferris. In her final years of employment, she was a vital asset in the establishment of Old Magnolia where she managed the catering menu and services, shop inventory, and finances. After retirement, they moved to Hubbard in 2020 to be closer to family and there they enjoyed life in their new home. Terry and Dee shared an amazing bond and grew a life together full of love and lots of laughter for nearly 35 years.
Dee was a very generous and loving woman, a kind soul who always had a smile on her face. She was talented and creative, and enjoyed investing a lot of her time in her hobbies. Dee was very enthusiastic about pursuing new artistic adventures, and even then, her skills always seemed to come naturally in creating something bright, beautiful, and unique. She enjoyed crafts, drawing and painting, traveling and sightseeing, gardening, thrifting, and always knew how to find a good bargain. Dee valued the relationships she shared with her family and close friends and loved them all unconditionally. She was loyal and selfless in her actions, keeping in touch with everyone to ensure they were taken care of and was always prepared to offer a helping hand or provide some sound advice. But above all, her ultimate joy was being a Gigi to all nine of her grandchildren. She was patient and had a gentle way in always challenging and encouraging them; she lived to spoil “her babies.”
She is preceded in death by her grandparents; father, Glenn Wier; brother, John Wier; and stepson, Shawn Seitz.
She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 34 years, Terry Seitz; mother, Emily Lee; brothers, Lynn, Bruce and Billy Wier; sons, Christopher Afinowicz and wife Allyson, Codey Afinowicz and wife Kirsten; daughter in law, Dawn Seitz; nine grandchildren; closest friend and partner in crime, Debra Taylor Walling; multiple nieces and nephews, as well as many great nieces and nephews, and other extended family members.
Print Obituary & Condolences
So sorry for your loss. I am a second cousin of DeeDee. I had lost contact after she graduated high school. Sincere condolences for her family.
I’m sure going to miss her but I have peace in knowing John was there welcoming her with a huge hug! He loved his sister. I’m just sorry they never got to make it to Broken Bow OK for a second round of trout fishing! Love you poo!
Dee Dee and I were great friends many years ago, when we worked together at the Sewing Factory. We had our children at the same time and learned to be mothers together. She taught me so many things about different kinds of art and plants, she loved both and was great at all of it. She loved her boys, family and friends and was a hard worker.Continued Prayers for her family and friends
