Howard Joseph Babcock, 89, of Crawford, passed away Tuesday, July 15th at a local hospital. Private family services will be 10AM Friday, July 18th at Lake Shore Funeral Home with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8PM Thursday, July 17th at Lake Shore Funeral Home. Howard was born January 15, 1919 in Cherry Co., NE to Archie and Martha (Scull) Babcock. He married Beth Garwood on February 13, 1942 in Los Angeles, CA.
He was a self employed carpet layer by trade for thirty years. He was a member, deacon and elder of First Presbyterian Church in Scottsbluff, NE and member of B.P.O.E.
He and Beth moved to Waco in 2004. Howard was a devoted family man who loved to travel, camp, and fish. He was an incurable tease who loved to laugh and see others do the same.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Stephen; two brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include wife of 66 years, Beth Babcock of Waco; daughters, Sherry Jackson and husband, Ron of Monument, CO, and Kay Garner and husband, Bill of Crawford;
granddaughters, Carie Whitehead and husband, Joseph of Monument, CO and Sarah Beth Garner of Austin; grandson, Jeremy Garner and wife, Devann of Austin; great-grandson, Timothy John Groskopf of Monument, CO; sisters, Viola Wheeler of Emmett, ID and Ona Engle and husband, Jack of Santa Monica, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
