Ingeborg Vickery, better known as Inga and lovingly called “Moo” by family and close friends, passed away on Monday, June 14, 2021. She was born April 26, 1944 in Hamburg, Germany to Ferdinand and Elizabeth (Gloc) Adam.
In the midst of WWII, Inga was placed in a shoebox with air holes to protect her from blast debris falling as her family evacuated to the country. Her first 10 years were spent growing up in a US Army bunker in the country while the city was being rebuilt. She learned to swim in a community pool that was created by an exploded bomb. Inga played soccer with the boys, climbed neighbors trees to steal fruit, ice skated on frozen ponds, and swung upside down on tree limbs. Yet, she grew into a graceful, statuesque woman with a kind and tender heart. After graduating with a degree in textiles, she traveled on an extended vacation to the US where she met and fell in love with Charles Vickery, who had two daughters, Marcia and Cathleen. After seven years of marriage they had another daughter together named Jennifer.
After Charles’s passing in 1977, Inga became restless. She started a construction company specializing in concrete work and swimming pools. Inga often could be found on the jobsite at 6 AM with high boots, standing in concrete helping with the pour. She loved being outside and getting her hands dirty.
Inga’s restless years continued and she sold the construction company before pursuing seafood import/export. Then, she owned a couple of restaurants at various times in her life.
Her adventures took her from California to Arizona, Mexico, Wisconsin, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Texas, always with Jennifer by her side. While she loved her daughter tremendously, her son-in-law, Richard was her second pride and joy. She always found comfort in him and he was the son she always wanted.
Her hobbies were gardening, scrapbooking, and cleaning. “Moo” will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Vickery; parents, Ferdinand and Elizabeth Adam; brother, Harry Adam; granddaughter, Karmin Brown; and step-daughter, Marcia Vickery.
Inga is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Richard Brown; and step-daughter, Cathleen Vickery Gregorek.
The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice, The Brazos of Waco and Girling Homecare for the exceptional care of their mother.

Thank you so much Marlene. Eventhough the two of you didn’t communicate much in later years, she loved you as a daughter. You were very dear to her.

.
Thank you so much Sandy. Thank you for being there for her and brightening her days.
Reading this not only saddens me but I have learned that she lived an amazing life full of adventures. It is kind of sad as young adults we discount the wisdom of our elders. BUT as we grow older, we start to see the accomplishments and or knowledge they possessed… Given the opportunity she could have shared decades of insight in so many areas… RIP Mrs. Vickery. I am very sorry for your loss and for the pain you are feeling Jennifer.
Ms. Inga had such an interesting life. I would have loved to meet her and hear a story or two okay all of them.~ Rest peacefully~sending
my sincere condolences to you Jennifer & Richard.
I was deeply saddened to hear about Inga’s passing. She was a very special lady and we had a unique “pen pal” relationship after we were no longer neighbors. I will miss her and the way she wrote her letters, dearly.
Her neighbor,
Kaycee
