J.T. Newman, Jr., 79, of Waco, formerly of Austin, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2015.

Visitation and Viewing: 1 to 3PM Friday, February 6 at Lake Shore Funeral Home.

J.T. was born April 18, 1935 in Brownwood, TX to J.T. and Fannie (Allman) Newman. He graduated from the Texas School for the Deaf in 1955. He married Rosetta Stultz on December 23, 1964. J.T. worked as a printer for the Texas Rail Road Commission for 29 years. He loved football, especially the Texas Longhorns. J.T. was an avid outdoorsman, often barbecuing, camping and fishing.

J.T. was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Rosetta; his parents; and brother, Michael Davis Ashabranner.

He is survived by his daughter, Jackie L. Hilmers; granddaughter Desirae R. Hilmers; and great-grandson Matthias J. Bettinger.
